The port of Sifnos is Kamares. When one descends from the ship, he observes the high mountain ranges with the monasteries on their tops.

Kamares is one of the most touristic places on the island, where you can easily find accommodation, but also some of the most “in” places for food and entertainment.

In addition the beach of Kamares has easy access, shallow waters and many umbrellas and sunbeds to relax on.

The chora of Sifnos, Apollonia, with the beautiful alleys, is amphitheatrical. Inside its narrow streets one can see small shops for fun and shopping. Pretty picturesque place, where the visitor can enjoy the tranquility in the morning, while the night is full of life.

Apollonia might be the center of Sifnos, but Artemonas, which is a few kilometers away, is known for its old mansion houses. The large buildings in a neoclassical narrow , you can enjoy local tastyle give visitors an amazing sight. There are also taverns to try local food.

Another very special area a little further away is the Castle. Built on a steep cliff on the east of the island, it creates awe with its particular beauty. During the day it reminds of a desolate landscape, with few people circulating on the cobbled streets of the Venetian fortress.

At dusk though it’s full of people who enjoy the endless blue of the sea. One of the buildings that stand out in the area, the church of “Seven Martyrs”, which stands alone on a rock in the area.

Sifnos is probably the island with the most churches, having over 360 churches and monasteries. Some of them have been characterized as historic monuments, while some churches on the island, such as Panagia Chrysopigi and “Seven Martyrs”, are chosen by couples for their wedding ceremony.

As for the island’s beaches their  waters are fantastic and the tree leaves in some of the beaches create a natural shadow ideal for a lunchtime nap The most famous beaches are Platis Yialos, Lazarus, Apokofto and Chrysopigi.

At nighttime you can go to Apollonia(Chora). It is a small picturesque narrow street with bars and taverns, where all visitors of the island gather at night.
